Are we ready for high school yet?

Well, I think we have everything completed so my son can begin high school in a few weeks. We've had orientations, enrollment, filled out forms multiple times and physicals this past week. So, finally...maybe that's it for a while.
Has it been hot where you are?
It's been 99 and 100 degrees here in Oklahoma and the heat index even higher. I like summer but not the humidity and so hot that you can even think about being outside from around noon til 4:00 or so...but what am I saying, that's just how it's going to be for a while.
I completely dislike winter and cold weather but fall doesn't even sound like a bad word about right now...lol.
I would like to thank Shelly for saying such nice things about me and plugging my little etsy shop. She is a great girl and has wonderful goodies in her shop, lemon tree studio. Thank you Shelly!
Here are a few new things in my shop, a cute little owl cut from felt with big button eyes!
Finally completed this paper bag album, it would be great for alot of different occasions.

And this little embellished tag!

I Blogged How Long Ago???

I can't believe it's been over a week since I posted here, but time does fly...doesn't it!!
Okay, I did get my dryer fixed...maybe I already posted that, I guess I should blog more often and I can keep up with what I have said...lol.
We got Tyler enrolled in high school last week and we got all the teachers we wanted.
BTW: We got there for enrollment and waited our turn in line at 8:50 am, enrollment wasn't starting til 12:00...can you tell we were determined to get there early so we could get the teachers we wanted...*smiles*. Of course, you hear from others who you should take for this or that. Tyler's goal was to take teachers/classes that were going to be possibly easier than others...lol. My goal is for him to take teachers who are willing to work with the students and parents. Being a teacher, I am going to go to parent/teacher conferences, email, and just keep in contact with Tyler's teachers and his progress. Just being a freshman at a new school will be overwhelming in lots of ways for him but I know he will do fine...I am just going to do my part and keep up with things at the high school. It will be probably more of an adjustment for me, Tyler has been at the same school as me since preschool...I am going to miss having him there with me. I know, I'm being a baby...can't help it!...lol.
We did go shopping for school clothes also last week, did I tell you guys how much fun it is shopping with a 15 yr old?!...lol. Nah, it wasn't too bad...we weren't going to get everything, just a few things on our list so he did find 3 pairs of shorts. We will have to go another time later but at least we got a little accomplished. I know some of you guys are saying, school clothes...but Tyler will start school Aug. 7th. Poor me, I start back Aug. 4th!!!
Look at this cute little pincushion I made. I have seen some like this on etsy and wanted to make one for myself! Too CUTE!
Here are a few things I put in my etsy shop. A gift card holder and some felt embellishments.

I hope everyone has a great Monday!

A broken dryer, freshman orientation and MORE Rain...

Don't you just hate it when things break down or just don't work the way they are supposed to?!
Well, late yesterday afternoon our dryer stopped heating...it still runs but will not dry the clothes. I don't know how many times I turned the dryer back on attempting to get a load of towels dry but no luck...I'm thinking it's the heating element. So this morning, I called the place that works on them and asked if they could order the part for me and if they would replace it. The guy said yes and that he should have the parts he needs. He said it's probably the heating element or the thermostat. That was the easy part, next I had to move the dryer so he will be able to get to the back of it...I can't believe the dust bunnies and junk that was under and behind the dryer. Where do those things come from? Anyway, he is supposed to come check out the dryer in the morning, hopefully he can fix it and have us up and running soon.
Tonight was freshman orientation at the high school. I still can't believe Tyler will be starting high school in a few weeks. I am probably more overwhelmed than he is. We have lots of new rules and things to remember, hopefully we won't make too many mistakes along the way. Next week we go back and actually enroll, he's nervous but also seems excited.
A few days ago Shelly posted some info on her blog about all the different adhesives she uses and which ones she prefers over others. I agree with her on how some of these dispensers are a pain and just don't work the way they are supposed to. Alot of them work fine until you start to refill them and then they never seem to work the same again. This one below is one that I use and really like, it's from creative memories...it's refillable also.
You are probably looking at this picture below and thinking "what the heck?"...lol.
I was reading April's blog a few days ago and she posted some photos of things she collects. She was responding to a post on Crystal's blog. I couldn't think of anything really cute or unique that I collect but I do tend to hold on to these type of containers. Yes, at the time I think "don't throw that away because I may need it to make something really crafty." I have more than the photo shows so really, how may do I need to keep? I am going to try and not hold on to very many of them, maybe just a couple...lol.

Happy Friday!

Happy 15th Birthday Tyler!

Today my "baby" turned 15!
Tyler wanted to eat Mexican, HOORAY...one of my favorites also so we went to Pedro's. It's a little place over by the lake but they serve the best food and BIG portions, like I need that...lol.
After we finished eating, he wanted to go to Wal-Mart. He had decided he wanted a PS3, since he had alot of the money he had saved...I told him I would pay the remainder so he could get the system, extra controller and a game. He was so excited and we had to rush right home and set it up. He has been playing it for a while now.Of course, now Tyler wants to try to set it up to play his PS3 online...I told him that was something we might do a little later but not now.
Here are a couple of things I put in my etsy shop tonight, I need to finish up a few more projects.

Happy Thursday everyone!

A Special Birthday and More Fun...

Tomorrow, my son Tyler will be 15 years old! That is so hard to believe, I've said it before but I will say it AGAIN...they grow up so fast! So all of you mom's with young children, enjoy every minute! I have been very blessed to be Tyler's mom!
Even though Tyler's birthday isn't until the 9th, we normally celebrate it on the 4th when everyone is together plus it has always made him feel like all of the fireworks and celebration was just for him. We had lots of good food and fun on that day. He asked for a hashbrown casserole, steak and homemade ice cream and it was all delicious. 1 box of fireworks = $65
Look on his face = priceless!

Isn't it amazing what fabulous colors and sounds come from these small packages.
Sissy cooling off this afternoon, she loves to jump in every chance she gets. She is just like the kids, after a day of swimming they are exhausted...well right now she is laying by my feet tuckered out!
Tyler thinks he is getting too old to have his photo taken, he doesn't say it but the look on his face...lol...but I'm not going to stop!!
It has been so busy since the 4th, I have been running here and there trying to get some things finished. Even though it's summer break, I have things that are due in the summer months. Yesterday, I went to school and completed to reports that were due. I will need to go to school a few more times before we report back on Aug. 4th. Oh yes, can't forget mowing the yard...with all the rain then a little sunshine...the grass grows overnight. Today, had a dental appt. and you know how much fun those things are. Is it just me or is the summer FLYING by?!!

I have been wanting to do some crafting but I can't get other things done to free up some time.

Tyler and I will go eat somewhere tomorrow for his birthday. He hasn't decided where just yet? He likes Mexican so maybe that will be his choice, yummy!

Enjoy your Wednesday!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

I am scrambling around this morning cooking a few things to take to my parents house. I am cooking baked beans, hashbrown casserole, fixings for homemade ice cream and I am thinking about cutting up a watermelon that has been on the porch all week to take also.
Cameras need to be charged and we haven't even bought fireworks yet so I still have a few things to get done before the am is over, but it will all get done one way or another.
We are planning on having a great day here in Oklahoma!
I wish everyone a SAFE and HAPPY 4th!
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY
EVERYONE!!!
