Fun Saturday

This is the cutest idea!
I think my kids at school would enjoy making this treat!
Now if I can just find these plastic gloves.
The weather is great here today!
A beautiful fall day plus some football, can't beat that!
Sending a big birthday shout out to Lily! Go visit Shelly at My Lily Eden and send your own birthday wishes to her cute little girl!

$2.53????

I was so excited yesterday when I saw this gas price!
Actually I got it for,
2.50 a gallon, with my walmart card.
Today when I past, it was 2.49!
I would like to hope it would stay this low or continue to go down. This past week at school was crazy! We were preparing for our annual harvest carnival which takes alot of time. Our community enjoys the event and it was a success. Thank goodness it's over for this year! We have been on fall break the last few days and it's been nice to have a couple of days off.
Yesterday, I attended a funeral of a friend's mom. Here is a poem they read.
"Time flies," everyone says.
It's frightening sometimes to look in the mirror
and see the evidence of that.
So often, we don't take a moment
to say what's in our hearts,
and then, when it too late, we wish we had.
I'm taking a moment now, Mom, to tell you this...
When I was a child, there was
so much I couldn't understand,
like how hard you worked
and how much you sacrificed for our family.
There were dreams you had to put on hold
and dreams that never came true.
You must have felt frustrated sometimes, no doubt,
and at times even full of despair.
Yet you never gave less than your best to us.
You didn't have an exciting career or beautiful clothes.
You never traveled the world or drove a fancy car.
Everyday, you looked after us,
worried about us, fed us, and loved us,
without expecting anything in return.
You see, Mom, I know now and understand
that you actually gave me two lives:
My own...and yours.

I thought it was beautiful and so true!
Enjoy your Saturday!

Halloween Fun

SPIDER POPS
Here is a simple but fun activity for your kids to make.
I make these at school with my kids and they love it, a craft and snack all rolled into one!
The only problem I have is that the kids want to rip open the tootsie pop/blow pop too quickly. I want them to enjoy their Halloween decoration for a little while. But what do I know?!...lol.
CRAFT MATERIALS:
Black pipe cleaners
Lollipops
Googly eyes
Glue
Time needed: Under 1 Hour
1. Holding all four pipe cleaners, center them at the base of the pop and wrap them around the stick once so there are four legs on each side. 2. Bend the pipe cleaner ends to form eight feet. 3. Glue on googly eyes.

Are these not the cutest things!!! Too cute to eat!

I am going to make these mummy dogs and even my 15 year old will like these, he may not admit it but he will. I found these posted on the Tip Junkie Blog.

YUMMY MUMMY DOGS

Rhodes™ Dinner Rolls, thawed but still cold, bun length hot dogs, and mustard.
For each Mummy Dog, cut one dinner roll in half. Roll each half into a 22-24-inch rope. Wrap one rope around hot dog from bottom up 4 1/2 inches. Cut a 1 1/2 inch piece off of the second rope and set aside. Wrap the second rope around the hot dog from the bottom up 4 1/2 inches going the opposite way. Wrap the 1 1/2 inch piece around the top of the hot dog. Place Mummy Dogs on a sprayed baking sheet and bake at 350°F 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven, cool slightly and add mustard eyes. Serve warm with ketchup and mustard.
This time of the year is alot of fun!
Great food, friends, family and activities!

Fall Everywhere

Last Saturday on my way home from the Apple Festival, I noticed a few photo opportunities. The weather was beautiful and I couldn't resist grabbing my camera and taking some pictures of these sights. I even took the long way home so I could see some lovely yards of mums, pumpkins, and fall decorations. I drove past a particular house that always has really cool Halloween decorations and they were setting them up as I passed. I wanted a picture really bad so I turned around and went back but then I chickened out, I didn't want the homeowners to think I was crazy stalker woman so I just quickly went past...lol.

Can you all believe it's October?! I think I have said that every month this year...lol...where does the time go. School is really busy right now with football games, preparing for our fall carnival and just my paperwork in general. Being a teacher, I get paid monthly...I was just thinking a few days ago, I have how many more paydays before Christmas???...isn't that a
scary thought!!!

I am attempting a low carb diet AGAIN! A few years ago, I lost about 40 lbs or so on a low carb diet plan. I am sitting here looking through some recipes and I am dying for something sweet but my options are pretty limited. Believe me, you find lots of ideas for splenda and cream cheese...lol. Even a pop tart sounds really good about now! But maybe these creepy cupcakes even look better!!...*smiles*

Have a great Wednesday!!

Karen~
